  • Aromatherapy works by inhaling or absorbing essential oils, which are extracted from various plant parts.

The scents of essential oils stimulate the limbic system, the part of the brain that controls emotions, smell, and some physiological functions.

The olfactory system is that part of the nervous system that is concerned with olfaction – our sense of smell. It is composed of mainly nerve tissue and begins in the nose. There are millions of tiny hairs (cilia) that are the endings of small olfactory nerves. The hairs translate odour into nerve messages. These messages are relayed to the limbic system via the olfactory nerves.

Our sense of smell has a profound influence on the function of the central nervous system. Pleasant odours can gain a deeper access to our nervous system than unpleasant odours do. The sense of smell acts on a subconscious level.

When absorbed through the skin, essential oils enter the bloodstream and circulate throughout the body which support mood regulation, stress relief, immune health, and more, essential oils can also act locally with their anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiseptic, antifungal, analgesic, actions. Aromatherapy may have effects on emotional and physiological well-being, such as pain relief, mood improvement, cognitive function, respiratory health, and infection prevention.

Each plant is unique and so are their essential oils, offering distinct properties and benefits that support our health and well-being.

It is the role of an aromatherapist to apply their training and knowledge of essential oils and other plant-based extracts to support physical, emotional, and mental well-being by developing safe, targeted formulas and applications for specific conditions.

WARNINGS FOR ALL ESSENTIAL OILS - Never ingest (take internally), never use undiluted, always keep away from and out of eyes, always keep out of reach of children and pets. If Serious health ailments consult with health practitioner before use.
